Description:

The Faculty of Humanities is one of three Faculties in the University of Manchester and consists of four Schools that offer an unprecedented range of innovative programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The Faculty is looking to appoint a full-time eLearning Support Assistant, who will join the Humanities eLearning team on a permanent basis.
The eLearning Support Assistant will be part of the Humanities eLearning team providing support for staff across the Faculty of Humanities. Working flexibly and collaboratively with academic staff, IT services staff, the wider Humanities eLearning team and others who are supporting teaching and learning, the post holder will support the delivery of effective customer-focused support to staff and students, assist Learning Technologists and eLearning Support Officers with the planning and delivery of training and the development of support resources, and thus contribute to the delivery of high quality and effective online and blended learning within the Faculty of Humanities.

The eLearning Support Assistant will:

  • Assist in supporting the eLearning team and the academic community in the development and delivery of electronically delivered teaching and learning activities.
  • Work collaboratively with academic staff, IT Services staff and others who support teaching and learning in support of the University’s strategic aims to incorporate eLearning into its programmes of study.
  • Proactively participate as a member of the eLearning team, including assistance with projects, team meetings, communications and recommendations for service improvements.

The person appointed will have

  • previous experience of working in eLearning or in a teaching and learning environment.
  • Experience of using a virtual learning environment.
  • Experience of using eLearning applications to create learning resources.
  • Experience of working in a team environment and able to support colleagues in the delivery of objectives, together with excellent organisational skills, and able to prioritise work in a busy environment and meet strict deadlines will be required.
  • A basic understanding of the process of planning, designing, developing, testing and evaluating eLearning resources is also essential.
