Description:

THE AEC’S VALUES AND COMMITMENTS

The AEC values and commitments are an essential component of our operating environment and frame how AEC staff work. The AEC’s focus is on electoral integrity through the values of quality, agility and professionalism.

THE OPPORTUNITIES

We are seeking versatile and energetic people to undertake a range of administrative functions in enrolment and election management, and project management and delivery.
You will provide frontline client services to members of the public, including answering enquiries on, and assisting with, electoral enrolment. The Electoral Service Officer is responsible for undertaking work that is moderately complex and, during an event, may be required to supervise a small team and provide training to aid the delivery of planned activities.
Duties may also include processing special categories of enrolment and contributing to the planning and project management of key election activities, leading the delivery of several projects, ensuring communication flows seamlessly and accurately to the Team Leader.
The Electoral Service Officer positions (APS 3) are full time.

To excel you’ll have:

  • Resilience and positivity with the ability to respond and adapt to changing operational environments, being a self-starter and using initiative.
  • Confidence and the ability to communicate, collaborate and sustain productive relationships with team members and key stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC’s strategic direction.
  • A high level of integrity and motivation with the ability to make evidence-based and effective decisions.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and resolve workplace issues with a degree of guidance and monitoring from more senior staff or a supervisor.
  • Have accountability for the completion of allocated tasks, making decisions within defined parameters relating to the position, and reviewing work for Service Support Officers and Temporary Election Workforce employees during an electoral event.
  • Ability to assist with critical activities and leading projects to a successful completion.

Responsibilities:

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.
