Description:

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • The successful candidate will be a time served electrician, ideally with experience in both production and maintenance in LCC; or candidate with equivalent engineering qualification and experience.
  • Be approachable with good leadership skills.
  • Computer literacy and competence.
  • Be a good team player and be open to new ideas and changes in work practices.
  • Must be willing to upskill if required.
  • The applicant will be required to work shift work as part of this position.
  • Willingness to work extra hours when necessary. This would include overtime on weekends when required

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparation and organisation of work for all employees in the department, thus ensuring that sufficient work is available at all times.
  • Supervision of workers, monitoring of performance and quality of workmanship
  • Planning and prioritising of workload and resources in accordance with production schedule, due dates and the requirements of other departments.
  • Providing assistance, advice, and information to the workers to help them carry out their tasks. Give manual assistance where and when required.
  • Ensuring that components leaving the department are of an acceptable quality standard.
  • Kit marshalling of materials (including subcontracted material) for the individual workstations.
  • Sourcing of missing parts and material.
  • Co-ordination, supervision and preforming of transport/turning/moving of complex sections.
  • Identification of problems, provide suggestions for improvement/resolution of issues relating to product design, process methods, jig tools, machines, and fixture requirements etc.
  • Liase with other departments to establish supply requirements and to optimise the material/process flow.
  • Liase with Design and Industrial Engineering Departments in the resolution of design and work paper errors.
  • Assist in MES related issues i.e. provide reliable opinion in relation to job times.
  • Ensure observance of Company rules, guidelines, discipline, and health & safety regulations.
  • Willingness to work extra hours when necessary to satisfy production demand. This would include overtime on weekends when required.
  • Fulfil the department Supervisors duties and responsibilities in their absence.
  • Chargehands must be a good team player and be open to new ideas and changes in the work practises
