Job Role: Electrical Commissioning Engineer - Contract
Location: Hirwaun, South Wales (accepting applications from surrounding areas)
Salary: Up to £500 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday
Job Type: Contract Role
Duration: May to September 2024
The Client:
Interaction Technical have partnered with a global industrial and energy company on their search for an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer on a temporary basis for their site based in Hirwaun, South Wales until September 2024. The Role:

  • Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as, transformers, high and low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, etc.
  • Fully competent at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment. Carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols
  • Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
  • Ensure all the activities conducted on site follow the correct process in accordance with project requirements and in strict compliance with all EHS requirements.
  • Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis / Work Authorisation / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits.
  • Authorised for planning and executing LV isolations.
  • Coordination of all necessary activities with all involved parties, such as commissioning team, erection team and sub-contractors
  • Lead a team of Electrical technicians and co-ordinate their activities.
  • Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
  • Preparation and update of the commissioning procedures to be conducted on site.
  • Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel.
  • Report to the Lead Electrical Engineer, the Commissioning Manager, and the Head of Commissioning where necessary

The Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience within power station electrical commissioning activities (essential)
  • HND / HNC in Electrical engineering (essential)
  • Knowledge of electrical regulations and construction industry standards (essential)
  • Previous experience surrounding electrical engineering with the construction industry (advantageous)
  • Full UK Driving License
