Are you passionate about designing the future of cabin seating? We are looking for a dedicated and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team, specializing in Electrical Integration. This role is crucial for advancing our seating solutions, and offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on our projects.

QUALIFICATION YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Aerospace Expertise: Prior experience in designing mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products.
  • CAD Proficiency: Skilled in using Siemens NX or other 3D CAD software for design purposes.
  • PDM Tools: Experience working with Teamcenter or other Product Data Management (PDM) tools to manage and streamline design data.
  • Electrical Integration: Proven experience in integrating electrical components, including routing, harnesses, and mechanical installations.
  • Manufacturing Insights: Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of FAA requirements to ensure compliance and certification of designs.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Electrical Integration: Integrate electrical components and wiring into designs while ensuring compliance with vendor and OEM requirements.
  • Liaison Duties: Act as the key contact between the electrical integration team, electrical certification, design engineering, vendors, and project teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Work Statements: Prepare detailed work statements for the electrical integration team, outlining project requirements and deliverables.
  • Project Management: Direct the work of outsourced resources on projects related to electrical integration, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • System Verification: Verify system configuration and create block diagrams to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • CAD Expertise: Prepare, modify, and release CAD (NX) drawings to confirm the fit, form, and function of mechanical and electrical designs.
  • Bracket and Fixation Design: Design brackets and fixations for electrical components and wiring, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with FAA certification through rigorous static and dynamic crash testing.
  • Material Evaluation: Assess materials and parts for new designs, liaising with current and new suppliers to ensure optimal selection.
  • Team Collaboration: Operate within a collaborative team environment, incorporating input from various functional areas into design solutions and actively participating in design reviews.
    Travel Requirements: 0-10% to a local sister site.
