QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) accredited program.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • 5 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) and NCEES record for licensing in multiple states preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to travel to the job site and meet with clients and construction personnel to scope the project and answer construction problems. (10-15%)
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering design, coordination with design staff with plan production, and construction administration on projects.
  • Performs design computations by hand and by computer software. Uses experience, education, and judgement to make informed decisions. Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities in breadth and complexity.
  • Organizes multiple tasks and completes them in an orderly fashion.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Project Engineer and other PEC Divisions to complete design tasks on numerous projects.
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
  • Prepares quantity take-offs for use in construction cost estimates and engineering fee estimates.
  • Reviews project submittals for compliance with design standards, workflows, and drafting standards.
  • Aid in hazardous area classification source forms and plans; design distribution systems; engineer distribution basic, relaying, and metering one lines; engineer motor schematics; power system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, time-current curves, circuit breaker settings, protective relay settings, grounding studies, arc flash studies, UPS and battery sizing, cable sizing, and other electrical design and calculation activities.
  • Aid in development of specifications for electrical equipment purchase.
  • Makes trips to job sites to survey existing electrical conditions (travel about 10% - 15%).
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients and vendors.
  • Interact daily with other discipline engineers and project managers.
  • All other duties assigned.
