Job Description

MISSION

We are looking for a talented and experienced Electrical Designer to join our Transportation team. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems for a variety of projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the engineering team to ensure that the electrical systems meet the project requirements and current safety standards.
You will have the opportunity to take part in our hybrid work model which includes flexible work hours, working from home and in one of our offices listed below: Burlington, Mississauga, London, Kitchener, Toronto, or Bowmanville

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a 3-year community college program, with a diploma in Civil or Transportation Engineering and membership in OACETT as a C. Tech or CET with a combination of training and experience, may be considered as an alternative; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with PEO will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in illumination and traffic signal design
  • Familiarity with Microstation /AutoCAD and Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Certification with International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) in Work Zone Safety and Traffic Signal Design Levels I and II would be considered an asset.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence – Class G and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lighting and traffic signal layouts including lane markings and signage; wiring diagrams and electrical details; contract documents and specifications; as-built drawings;
  • Complete lighting analysis using AGi32;
  • Check of vehicle turning radii at intersections;
  • Calculate voltage drop;
  • Connect with hydro companies (O.Reg. 22/04);
  • Site visits and contract administration;
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and project managers as it relates to delivering transportation projects and Support project management activities and mentoring of junior staff.
