Join us as an Electrical Engineer, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Toronto, Ontario
The role is working as part of a team of Engineers across “Alstom and Go-Transit” fleet platform to provide engineering technical support for modifications to Go transit fleet. Develop engineering containments, engineering instructions, testing and validation for ongoing projects. Electrical Engineer will directly report to Project manager and Sr. Engineering manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Comply with Alstom standards and Quality, Cost, Delay (QCD) commitments while performing electrical engineering tasks.
  • Develop engineering activities with due diligence, self-initiative, coordination, team-working and continuous improvement.
  • Define functional requirements and equipment technical features aligned with customer specifications.
  • Perform the system design, studies, calculations and complete BOM definition to enable series production or acquisition.
  • Secure the system validation and performances demonstration, and support Certification and Homologation processes for those new or re-designed electrical solutions, preparing and providing both technical and documentation evidences.
  • Apply innovative technologies and processes to electrical design, including new materials and processes, and those providing benefits in the field of preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance.
  • Open and trusty relationships with internal and external customers, providing the required technical clarifications and support for troubleshooting.
  • Technical investigations: Responsible for undertaking technical investigations affecting rolling stock performance, and ensure all technical investigations are recorded in accordance with Alstom procedures. Provide immediate support to safety and reliability faults and provide fleet check instructions for the Production function. Ensure all investigations have been thoroughly investigated and resolved. Responsible for closing out all technical investigations by ensuring details of the investigation, outcomes, actions taken and associated documents or information are systematically recorded.

  • Modifications: Develop modifications to improve the safety and reliability performance of individual systems and equipment, including updates to the Simulator. Interface with Central Engineering to develop modifications, and ensure drawings, bill of materials, method statements, change requirements, maintenance procedures and special tools and equipment have been identified and produced. Work with the design authority to test the modification against input specifications.

  • Maintenance Plan and manuals: Responsible for amending and revalidating the Maintenance Plan, and associated documentation, taking into account changes to changes in working parameters of the Units, changes to the fleet maintenance strategy, maintenance optimisation, and changes resulting from modifications to the trains, equipment or station propriety equipment.
  • Material technical support: Review material performance against specification, review reliability and obsolescence of parts. Assess repair methodologies for effectiveness and Identify new products with a potential for performance improvement.

Relevant experience required

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of rolling stock maintenance and design
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in the field of Electrical Engineer (Must)
  • Effective investigatory skills into technical investigations
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of railway experience preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience of Project handling(initiation to execution phase) for fleet
  • P.Eng required or qualified in Ontario.
