Job Description

Summary: As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will serve a key role in the conceptualization and development of new products (material preparation and hardness machines) using both AC and DC power processing. In this role, you will be working within a team to create, develop, validate, and implement new solutions for Buehler’s customers worldwide. Additionally, you will provide expertise in the implementation of emerging technologies and designing the PCB Assemblies, power system, and control hardware content for our product lines.

  • Collaborate with marketing, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, and other departments to develop new products to meet the changing needs of Buehler’s internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop risk assessments (Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Safety Risk Assessments) on product designs and assist in developing solutions to mitigate risk
  • Create test procedures, oversee testing, and analyze results
  • Collaborate with purchasing, sourcing, and quality teams to design and qualify solutions for obsolete components
  • Work with teams to release products to production involving design for manufacturing, documentation for PCBA, and documentation to release and deviations
  • Update and revise documentation and engineering drawings. Prepare and submit engineering change notices
  • Collaborate with software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering to support Buehler’s existing product lines to ensure they can be consistently, and cost-effectively produced as well as ensure they continue to meet the needs and expectations of our customers
  • Support the development of quality, manufacturing, and supplier inspection procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in designing circuit boards (layout + schematics)
  • Comprehensive understanding of designing and testing in compliance with regulatory and safety standards such as CE, UL, and IEEE.
  • Experience in analog + digital signal designs; experience in the use of microcontrollers is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in power circuitries, motor controls, and sensors
  • Experience creating schematics with OrCAD or Altium.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Navision and Microsoft SharePoint is a plus
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within project teams, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Creative problem-solving mindset with the curiosity to understand design and process failures with the help of the team.
  • Ability to combine an analytical approach with a hands-on mentality
  • Ability to work on-site in Lake Bluff, IL with occasional flexability to work from home
