The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a full time, Electrical Engineer based in our Macquarie, Sydney office. In this role, the successful, Electrical Engineer will generate high quality design documentation for regulators and internal use.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and remove boundaries to ensure designs integrate with other functions (ASIC, FW, mechanical, manufacturing, production test systems etc)
  • Write and review design documentation (including risk analysis, failure analysis, dFMEAs, design descriptions, verification protocols and reports) such that Cochlear design procedures are adhered to, and design knowledge is maintained.
  • Perform verification of electronic designs against requirements and functional specifications to ensure that product development outcomes are met.
  • Define and review test systems’ pass criteria, test methods and test limits to permit Cochlear manufacturing to rigorously test products.
  • Contribute to product design decisions, architecture, and requirements to enable Cochlear to design and deliver the right products at the right time.

Essential

Required Skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of electronic circuits and components, both analog and digital
  • Experience with electrical CAD tools – schematic capture, simulation, and PCB layout

Desired Skills

  • 2 years of electronics design and verification experience
  • Experience with medical implants or a highly regulated industry e.g., defence
  • Experience with audio circuits, RF circuits and wireless communication
  • Experience with the Altium schematic capture and PCB layout CAD tool
  • Experience with the Python programming language and embedded firmware in general
