Wieland is a global leader in copper and copper alloy manufacturing, processing, and distribution. Launching in 2024 in Edwardsville, IL - Wieland’s Global Engineering Hub will implement new plant projects and modernization projects in different metal processing areas (e.g. recycling, casting, rolling, extrusion) for our business units at Wieland North America (WNA). This hub will aim to build upon and expand the process and technology knowledge base between Europe & North America by integrating engineering resources into a global structure that allows flexible exchange of engineering capacity worldwide! As part of this team, you will be an integral part of conceptual solutions to meet Wieland’s business expansion and process improvement goals while playing a key role in the actual design implementation and optimization.
Wieland is seeking to hire an Electrical Engineer to join the Global Engineering Hub! The Electrical Engineer will support an interdisciplinary team with their expertise in order to integrate new machines into new and existing Wieland locations. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the electrical system specifications, maintaining control of electrical project expenditures to avoid cost overruns, supervising contractors and vendors, and managing project schedules. As part of the project team, you will drive conceptual solutions for our production processes and care for its implementation to meet project goals. Sustainability and safety are essential components for all our plant concepts.
This role is located in Edwardsville, IL - home of Wieland’s North American Global Engineering Hub. While this role is local, occasional travel to other locations will be required (15-25% travel).
Responsibilities:

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Handle all electrical specifications of a projects from concept to completion
  • Keep the project on schedule, control electrical expenditures
  • Ensuring the system design and final implementation meets the project goals
  • Clarification of electrical interfaces to IT and machine data processing
  • Power supply – including high voltage interfaces
  • Full electrical integration of new machines to existing structures
  • Automation architecture and functional development
  • Safety analysis, electrical safety design and safety chaines
  • Clarification of machine data processing and acquisition needs
  • Identification of electrical components required
  • Clarification of new HMIs architectural and process display needs with internal or external colleagues and partners
  • PLC-programming
  • Supervise maintenance, contractors and vendors

Electrical Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related degree
  • 2 - 3 years related job experience, ideally in design and realization of electrical machine concept
  • Strong electrical, electronic, PLC and process computer system skills on complex manufacturing equipment is a benifit
  • Familiarity with OSHA and electrical safety codes
  • Expertise in the following is a benifit: EPLAN 2D, Siemens & A.Bradley PLC, programming, IBA, SAP, Office 365, PM
  • Strong organizational & communicational skills to support and guide interdisciplinary project teams
