Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Exercising independent judgment in the application of established electrical engineering methods, procedures, and techniques to small routine projects; 2) preparing plans and specifications for electrical distribution and utilization systems; 3) monitoring engineering projects to ensure compliance with specifications; AND 4) conducting field studies of electrical equipment to evaluate functionality. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

• Evaluate data obtained, incorporating salient features into design considered actions and solutions.
• Change drawings and specifications to solve problems or conditions that arise.
• Attend meetings with other engineering/design personnel to obtain instructions and information on projects in progress.
• Confer with construction contractor to resolve problems or latent conditions that may arise during construction.
• Conduct required surveys, electrical load analysis and investigations of building and sites to determine the condition of electrical/fire alarm systems and to secure necessary data prior to initiating design.
• Prepare contract modifications and revised cost estimates.
• Identify most economical and efficient method for facility design and performance.
• Incorporate changes to sketches and design documents into contract performance documents.
