Description:

MSS Solutions, LLC is looking to bring on an Electrical Engineering Co-op to join our team for this upcoming 2024 Fall Semester. MSS has been in operation for 27 years and has a total of 8 locations with over 700 employees. This Co-op would work on a project that includes construction of two 320,000 square feet towers for a laboratory research building and a medical school. These systems include semi-custom air handlers, chilled water, heating hot water, and Glycol Energy Recovery systems. They also include venturi valves and sensible cooling terminal units. Another project this Co-op would work on is two new high schools in the Raleigh area. At MSS, this Co-op would learn hands on the functional skills necessary to be successful in the industry.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current enrollment in an Undergraduate Electrical Engineering program.
  • Availability for two work cycles (or at least 3 semesters).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently, changing priorities as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creation of building automation system control drawings, schematics, equipment selections, electrical load calculations, systems narratives and specifications, system design and layout using Auto-cad and Microsoft Office software products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of HVAC controls, electrical and building automation system designs.
  • Review product documentation from other construction trades to determine proper interfaces to monitor electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other equipment via building automation system equipment.
  • Participate in testing and troubleshooting activities to identify and resolve project issues.
  • Assist in creating technical documentation, such as specifications and test reports.
  • Participate in the development of engineering tools and documentation to support field staff as well as automate engineering processes to support common inquiries.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in building automation, electrical and mechanical engineering technology.
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to relevant codes and regulations.
  • Assist sales staff with bid package technical product documentation.
  • Effectively communicate and follow up with sales personnel, design engineers and product management teams to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and responses are efficiently executed.
  • Support the efforts of other Application Engineers, Product Managers and Sales personnel.
  • Daily interaction with project managers and other field personnel to resolve technical issues to meet project deadlines.
  • Work in a collaborative multifunctional-team-work environment under the leadership of the Engineering Manager and other application engineers.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
