    The Department of Electrical Engineering actively participates in the development of new products and supports existing products in current production. The Electrical Engineering Technician will assist in the design, development, build, and testing of electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems.

Essential job functions:

  • Develop, build, and test electro-mechanical and electronic components and assemblies, including circuit boards, sensors, motors, and cable assemblies
  • Work closely with engineers and scientists to develop new products and conduct exploratory research
  • Maintain electronic component libraries
  • Create component and assembly specifications/drawings
  • Build and test prototypes to required specifications and quality
  • Conduct troubleshooting, problem solving, diagnosis, and repair
  • Order and maintain electronic components
  • Participate and collaborate in Design reviews
  • Execute verification testing and document results
  • Follow standard practices and safety rules/regulations

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in electrical/electronics technology
  • Minimum 5 years experience in product development, manufacturing, and/or technical support of electro-mechanical products.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with electro-mechanical equipment diagrams, circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and cable drawings
  • Proficiency with Schematic capture and Layout tools (Diptrace or similar)
  • Proficiency with Soldering per IPC standards
  • Proficiency with Cable manufacturing per IPC standards
  • Experience with electronic measurement tools: multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc…
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Additional beneficial experience:

  • High voltage circuits, In-Vacuum applications, RF applications
