Hourly Pay: $42.00 - $50.00 per hour

Role Overview
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineering Hardware Designer will contribute to concept reviews, design to current electrical and safety standards and maintain customer specifications. Designs will use Eclipse templates while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture

The Electrical Hardware Designer job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop electrical designs as per customer and project requirements based on standard Eclipse methods
  • Provide electrical assistance and troubleshooting support during project build, integration, and support phases
  • Select hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers
  • Perform engineering calculations such as short-circuit current rating, panel heat loss/cooling, and power phase balancing
  • Contribute to continuously improving methods of design with the goals of enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost
  • Work with project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a complete functional automation system
  • Provide accurate documentation for each project
  • Report on project status, open issues, and task completion to assigned Project Leads
  • Assist with developing more junior resources through coaching and mentoring
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication, along with interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment and actively participate in group meetings
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as required in varying timelines
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met and escalate to Project Leads if a milestone is at risk
  • Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business
  • Expectation of travel to vendor/supplier locations is less than 10% of time, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in electrical, systems, or computer engineering.
  • Experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD
  • Nuclear design experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of various electrical machinery standards such as CSA C22.1, UL508A, and NFPA 70/79
  • Knowledge of various safety standards such as CSA Z433, CSA Z434, EN ISO 13849 and EN 62061 would be an asset
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
