Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.
Currently, we have openings for two experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Project Engineers to join the dynamic TE2 team on Fixed term 22 month contracts. Fantastic career opportunity to bring your skills & knowledge to this challenging project.

Responsibilities:

These positions report to the Engineering Manager and will manage multiple E&I work packages across all areas of the TE2 project, with daily operational responsibilities and as primary contact to the assigned packages for the suppliers and contractors. You will work with multi-discipline project team members to develop technical/functional solutions to achieve the TE2 project objectives.

Key tasks will include:-

  • Close collaboration with project personnel including the Principal’s team, workshare engineering teams, procurement team, site construction team, QAQC, planning and cost control function, sub-consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Management and execution of project plans, contractual arrangements, schedules, activities, and milestones in accordance with the established project procedures, systems, and requirements. The assigned packages may include services, procurement or construction packages.
  • Responsibility for coordination of project plans, contractual arrangements, schedules, activities, and milestones in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and project requirements.
  • Bridging the technical gap between the Area Managers and Engineers.
  • Ensuring that engineering work is done according to plan by helping with design interpretation.
  • Applying knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to oversee the successful execution of the project plan for the assigned packages.
  • Reviewing bill of materials/project schedules/forecasts for accuracy.
  • Providing strong HSE leadership and develop a mature and strong safety culture focussed on the Fatality Risk Management (FRM) program and the establishment and verification of critical controls.
  • Overseeing, motivating and monitoring the performance of the contractors/suppliers, ensuring quality and timeliness of delivery of goods and services, and addresses any performance gaps.
  • Strong project delivery focus.
  • Demonstrating the ability to build support for ideas, presenting alternatives and recommendations persuasively.
