UK Defence Academy, Swindon, SN6 8LA
Full time, Permanent (37 hours a week) Salary between £25,000 - £30,000 dependent on experience
Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD’s primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
Serco have an exciting new role as a Electrical Operative. You’ll be undertaking preventative and reactive emergency and routine maintenance repairs to a variety of building services, on MOD buildings, providing a customer focused and cost-effective service.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Carryout electrical pre planned maintenance and reactive activities across a multi building site as required.
Carry out repairs to a variety of building services and demonstrate their competence to multi-skill outside their core trade.
Be involved with refurbishment, planned and reactive maintenance.
Work with minimal supervision and can make decisions on the most appropriate repair solution.
To undertake a continual programme of risk assessment in relation to your role.
Provide exceptional service to our high-profile client and go the extra mile to deliver to the highest quality standard in delivering services in all building areas.
Utilise both electronic and paper-based systems to accurately record documentation including the use of materials against each job.
Attend training as and when required to continue your development in the role and comply with changes within the industry.
Attend team briefs, Toolbox talks and technical bulletins monthly, or as and when required.
Responsibilities:
Trade Background & Qualifications (recognised qualification or apprenticeship)
Strong electrical maintenance background
Demonstrable experience in a similar role
Good standards of numeracy and literacy
Basic IT skills, including using a PDA
Able to obtain and maintain basic security clearance
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work alone and using own initiative
