We are Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T): Boeing’s global research and development team creating and implementing innovative technologies that make the impossible possible and enabling the future of aerospace. Our team is responsible for infusing new technologies into the design and production system, as well as ensuring that new designs and our suppliers meet the applicable material and process requirements.
The Parts Materials & Processes (PM&P) team is seeking an Electrical PM&P Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.
Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including associate and mid-level engineers.
This role supports Huntsville production programs (PAC-3, GMD, ExCoE, etc.). The roles and responsibilities described below spans the entire production cycle of the program.
We are looking for an individual with experience in Electrical Component/Standards and Processes, paired with a desire to work where you will be among industry experts working on legacy programs as well as the future aircrafts, weapons, and technologies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering documents and drawings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience in Electrical Assembly
- Experience as a Component Engineer
- Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) programs
- Experience with Military Standards
- Experience with Obsolescence Management
- Experience with Failure Analysis
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Applies engineering knowledge of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components in evaluation of new components for assembly and subassembly design
- Creates and revises specifications for components, and support subcontractors and suppliers to ensure electronic components are qualified for Boeing usage per the contract and the Parts, Materials and Processes (PM&P) plans
- Supports Electrical Manufacturing Assembly in house and at supplier locations. Both domestic and international
- Conducts failure analysis and RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) efforts as part of anomaly investigations
- Utilize understanding of design/requirements to recommend new and alternate electrical components for new product development and legacy programs
- Represent Boeing at National Committees and represent Huntsville site/programs at Boeing enterprise meetings
- Leads production of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes
- Supports the creation and maintenance of component data for control of parts on development and production programs
- Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design, and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
- Trains and mentors others, assisting with defining strategies and/or provide consultation
- Maintain and implement improvements in tools used to support analysis and compliance activities
- Monitor Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alerts and provide status report to the programs and government customers
