JOB DESCRIPTION
Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) has a clear mandate from the Ontario government. Everything we do aims to improve electrical safety for the public. To do this, we anticipate, understand and prevent electrical-related harms.
Please note this is a hybrid work environment. (In-person 3 days per week)
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Electrical Safety Engineer to provide expert interpretation and advice on the Regulation, Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Electrical Distribution Safety, and other relevant codes and standards. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting ESA personnel and external stakeholders, ensuring consistent application and interpretation of safety regulations and codes across the province.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provide interpretation and advice internally to ESA personnel and external stakeholders,
including contractors, consultants, and electrical distribution companies on the application and
interpretation of the Electrical Distribution Safety Regulation, Ontario Electrical Safety Code
(OESC) and other associated codes and standards. Provide technical and related support
services, conduct engineering analysis of problems, and produce engineering reports, directives
and/or bulletins in consultation with the Supervisor to resolve field problems on such matters
relating to the objective-based safety standards, distribution system design, equipment safety
standards, and inspection and audit practices and procedures. Provide advice on regulation,
OESC, code and/or standards required changes to address safety requirements. Provide
advice on the adoption of codes or standards. Prepare proposals on the amendment of the
Canadian Electrical Code and standards relevant to electrical distribution systems. Provide
advice to committees and subcommittees responsible for the Canadian Electrical Code.
