Description:

Do you want to be a valued part of the critical infrastructure that serves communities across Europe and beyond? Are you looking for a position in which you can set direction and help shape our company? And are you passionate about electrification projects and energy management? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our team as Electrification and Energy Management Specialist.
Be part of the movement - and play your part.
About the role
We are looking for a capable and energetic electrification specialist with a pragmatic and commercially-savvy mindset, and a passion for solving complex puzzles that will enable us to progress our decarbonisation efforts.

We expect your key responsibilities to include:

  • Lead project workstreams and support operational colleagues around the business to implement all kinds of electrification and energy management projects, including charging solutions, electric warehousing and terminals equipment, battery storage and solar solutions
  • Research and understand different relevant business models and navigate cost options and revenue opportunities
  • Act as subject matter expert for energy optimisation and microgrid initiatives
  • Build practices and standards that aim for the lowest total cost of ownership of electric assets
  • Advise internally and externally on technical, sustainability and commercial aspects of electrical infrastructure, storage and electricity production solutions
  • Manage relationships with strategic suppliers
  • Work closely with our Technology & Innovation division to ensure the optimum software and data solutions to support our electrification journey
  • Keep updated on political and regulatory developments in the electricity domain.

The role is based at our HQ in Copenhagen, and travel to other DFDS locations will be required from time to time.
Decarbonisation is a new team, with a purpose that stretches to 2050 and beyond, and stakeholders in every area of the business. We embrace challenge and change, and all team members relish working top to bottom in their roles. We are serious and delivery-focused, but also passionate, innovative and fun-loving, committed to transitioning DFDS to a net zero future.
All team members are expected to take ownership of their own responsibilities, further develop their own role, and contribute to the development and direction of the team as a whole. Since our mission is to drive a group-wide transformation, all our work is done in very close collaboration with colleagues around the business.
About you

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • An electrical, mechanical or energy engineering Masters degree (or can demonstrate an equivalent level of competence from work experience)
  • Professional certification in energy management is desirable
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant, recent and ongoing experience in electrification, emobility, energy management, or renewable energy projects, with a solid technical knowledge, underpinned by a focus on commercial viability
  • Experience of the transport sector is an advantage. Experience of energy trading, on and-off grid energy projects, renewable energy sourcing and PPAs is desirable
  • A good understanding of environmental sustainability issues.

We expect that you:

  • Have a high level of both written and verbal communication in English, and the ability to communicate with business, operational and technical colleagues at all levels with ease
  • Are able to demonstrate the ability to proactively create value and to execute solutions
  • Are a team player, self-driving, problem solving and pragmatic, with respect for colleagues
  • Have the confidence to work productively with other specialists, but a willingness to roll up your sleeves and dive into the detail when needed.

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all.
