Description:

ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

NuGrid Power is a specialized technology development and consulting firm focused on grid modernization/digitization, high-voltage instrumentation, and substation automation. We are a small, motivated team working with the latest power system standards and technologies. NuGrid is seeking an individual to help with a wide variety of technical tasks relating to operations and engineering. In this position, you will be working alongside a team of engineers to assist with mechanical assembly, manufacturing, building electrical cabinets, routine testing and troubleshooting systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems through work and/or school
  • Strong communication skills with ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and expand new skills as new skills become needed in day-to-day work
  • Ability to work on projects independently and manage time well
  • Must be able to read and write procedures
  • Basic computer skills in Window environment, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Ability to use a computer efficiently
  • Electrical/Mechanical technician background
  • Familiarity with reading and understanding technical drawings and schematics
  • Good manual dexterity

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in electrical and/or mechanical technology is an asset
  • Knowledge of safety best practices, and a desire to maintain and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Understanding of techniques in the use of hand tools, soldering, crimping, drilling, and measurement equipment
  • Experience with electrical cabinet assembly
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams
  • Experience with Inventory Systems
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 or higher qualification is an asset
  • Knowledge of local electrical and mechanical distributors is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Assembling and wiring electrical equipment in control cabinets
  • Electrical Assembly work: wiring, installation and testing of electrical and electronic equipment
  • Mechanical Assembly work: Machining, use of power tools, assembling and manufacturing tasks.
  • Assist in engineering test setups: (i.e. building jigs, connecting equipment, configuring software tools.)
  • Conduct testing as per engineering specifications and/or procedures
  • Inventory Management and Control: Inventory auditing, tracking and inventory systems maintenance
  • Create build reports and documentation using a computer software tools
