Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Propulsion System Engineering is seeking an Electronic Systems Design & Analysis Engineer (Associate and Mid-level) to join their team in the Puget Sound area of Washington.

This position will assist in defining and integrating engine controls, fire detection, APU and fuels systems across our commercial airplane fleet. Projects involve analyzing and translating requirements into system architecture, hardware, software and interface specifications. Work with a worldwide customer and supply base to develop system components and validate designs through both laboratory and airplane testing. Review documentation and generate artifacts to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements. Work on airplane systems throughout the entire product lifecycle from initial concept through certification and delivery. We are continually evolving the state of the art in commercial air transport.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or related technical field of study.
  • 1+ years of engineering experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Familiarity with engineering processes and methods.
  • Experience with model-based development tools.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Knowledge of FAA / EASA certification.
  • Experience with ARP4754 Product Development.
  • Experience with ARP4761 Safety Assessment.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

(Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
(Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

PAY IS BASED UPON CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS, AS WELL AS MARKET AND BUSINESS CONSIDERATIONS.

Summary Pay Range (Level 2): $85,850 - $116,150
Summary Pay Range (Level 3): $102,850 - $139,150

Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will be required to work with other engineering disciplines.
  • Develops general configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems.
  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Supports design of propulsion sub-systems and components.
  • Employs various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.
  • Supports development of concepts for future propulsion systems.
  • Applies(y) requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems.
  • Utilizes and applies(y) Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to speed innovation, increase operating efficiencies and assist in development, integration and certification of complex systems.
  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
