Job description:
DESY-Zeuthen
The engineer will become a member of the Electronics Development group at DESY in Zeuthen. As a service provider, the group is developing specialized electronic hardware, firmware and software for the acquisition and processing of scientific data to the scientific projects of DESY. The developed equipment serves experiments in astroparticle and particle physics worldwide, for instance the IceCube detector at the south pole, the CTA telescopes in Chile and La Palma, or the ULTRASAT space mission.
About your role:
- Development of firmware and software for FPGAs and embedded systems
- Development and tests of FPGA based systems
- Development and tests of modern integrated circuits (ASICS, CMOS, etc)
- Design of digital electronic circuits
- Participation in the development of complex systems and assemblies for space applications, astroparticle physics, particle and accelerator physics projects
- Test and debug work of developed boards and systems
- Further development, construction and testing, integration of existing systems
- Documentation, publication and presentation of work results
About you:
- University degree in electrical engineering, physics or equivalent qualification
- Profound expertise and experience with firmware programming of FPGA’s
- Profound expertise in ECAD tools (such as Mentor Xpedition, Altium Designer)
- Expertise in the design of digital circuits
- Expertise in analogue circuit design is an advantage
- Experience with the full PCB workflow, from schematic capture to layout and design for manufacturing
- Experience with space applications is an advantage
- Experience with the design of electronics for space applications is an advantage
- Experience with common lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, etc…) for PCB tests is an advantage
- Expertise in low level hardware programming in C/C++ is an advantage
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
