Description:
ABOUT US
An unprecedented world-class partnership of two major aluminium industry pioneers - Alcoa and Rio Tinto - led to the 2018 formation of ELYSIS. Through this joint venture with the government of Québec, ELYSIS is working to scale up this technology so it can be fully commercialized.
The ELYSIS™ technology eliminates all direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the aluminium smelting process and is the first industrial process that emits oxygen as its by-product.ELYSIS has demonstrated production of commercial purity aluminium for end users ranging from Apple to Audi and is being designed for the construction of new smelters or to retrofit existing ones.
The ELYSIS™ technology also brings additional advantages, reducing the operating cost of a smelter and boosting metal production from the same size-smelting cell.
