Our client is seeking an EMEA Senior VAT Manager to join their dynamic team in London. This role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for all matters related to indirect tax on a global basis, excluding the US. WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate for the EMEA Senior VAT Manager role will be a UK/EU VAT specialist with significant experience in the Financial Services sector. You will have strong excel skills, essential for data analysis, and excellent communication skills to explain complex VAT concepts in a clear and concise manner. Experience with PeopleSoft/Oracle Accounting systems would be advantageous. A professional approach, the ability to meet deadlines without compromising on quality, and a willingness to keep learning as legislation evolves are key attributes we are looking for.
UK/EU VAT specialist with significant experience gained in the Financial Services sector or large practice background that has advised the Financial Service Sector.
Qualified ACA, ACCA or CTA is preferable, but we are willing to consider someone with significant Financial Services Sector VAT experience and a proven track record.
Strong excel skills are essential as there will be a lot of data analysis required.
Strong communication skills are required, both written and verbally, in order to be able to explain VAT concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals.
Experience of PeopleSoft/Oracle Accounting systems would be an advantage.
A professional approach with the ability to meet agreed deadlines without compromising on quality.

Responsibilities:

As an EMEA Senior VAT Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our client’s operations remain compliant with MTD for VAT requirements. You will lead responses to Tax Authority enquiries relating to VAT/GST/Sales Tax matters globally. Your expertise will be crucial in reviewing existing VAT treatments across all product lines and providing advice when new product lines are proposed. You will also manage relationships with external advisors, ensuring that all VAT control processes are robust and well-documented.
Ensure that the Group’s UK operations are compliant with MTD for VAT requirements and prepare the UK VAT returns and Annual adjustment under PESM.
Maintain, review and improve the UK PESM to improve the recovery rate where possible.
Lead the response to Tax Authority enquiries relating to VAT/GST/Sales Tax matters globally.
Review existing VAT treatments across all product lines and provide VAT advice when new product lines are proposed.
Provide detailed VAT guidance on all new business ventures by the group, including managing the VAT implications of acquisitions and opening offices in new jurisdictions.
Manage relationships with external advisors including agreeing scopes of work, fees and getting any other assistance as required.
Ensure that all VAT control processes are robust and well-documented with an appropriate level of governance in place.
