GV Health are recruiting a team of exceptional Emergency FACEMs to take our Emergency Department to the next level. Experience employment between both St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria’s capital city and GV Health, Shepparton, the heart of the Goulburn Valley in regional Victoria.
Suitable candidates will be eligible for positions at the University of Melbourne, Rural Clinical School. These roles will have an academic focus on researching and role modelling a culture that enables optimal medical training and education.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Emergency FACEM provides specialist emergency medical care and ensures smooth patient flow for patients presenting to the Emergency Department. During clinical shifts, the Emergency FACEM provides clinical leadership to ensure optimal outcomes to patients through working with the multidisciplinary team.
The Emergency FACEM supervises the work of Registrars and Junior Medical Officers (JMO’s) and is involved in teaching both junior doctors and medical students. The Emergency FACEM will be required to collaborate with other GV Health and SVHM specialists where appropriate and provide some services out of hours, including some weekends. The clinical component of these positions is shared equally between GVH and SVHM EDs though there is flexibility to consider alternatives of successful applicants.
The Emergency FACEM will contribute to the overall strategic planning and improvement of the quality of clinical care and service delivery provided to GV Health consumers. This position amongst others is responsible for promoting GV Health as a quality regional health service provider.
The Emergency FACEM will support the values and strategic priorities of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM). They will provide excellence in the delivery of clinical service in the discipline of Emergency Medicine. In addition, they support SVHM teaching, research and clinical governance programs.

The GV Health Emergency Department includes the following:

• 36 bed ED – increased from 18
• Three state-of-the-art resuscitation bays
• A Behavioural Assessment room, mental health consult spaces, forensic room
• Two negative pressure isolation cubicles
• Nine additional acute care cubicles
• A dedicated Fast Track area with seven cubicles and a consultation room
• A nine bed Short Stay Unit, including one isolation room
• A CT scan room, ultrasound room and two new X-Ray rooms
