Clinic Details — Kelowna General Hospital:
Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 85,000 ED visits yearly. Adjacent to Kelowna General is the brand new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) which opened in 2015 and is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland. IHSC is Kelowna General Hospital’s principal surgical site and features; 13 specialized Operating Rooms created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, General and Trauma surgeries with 2 ORs dedicated to Cardiac. Our state of the art Centennial Building also recently opened and boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, larger operating rooms and a rooftop helipad. KGH is also a University Health Science Center affiliated with UBC’s Southern Medical Program. KGH participates in training Royal College Emergency Medicine Physicians and Family Physicians. Practice Details:
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Kelowna General Hospital is seeking an emergency physician for a part-time locum opportunity.
Kelowna General Hospital is a 400-bed tertiary hospital serving the Southern Interior of B.C. and acting as a referral center for Interior Health. Facilities are brand-new, including new patient care towers, a new ED, and the Interior Heart and Surgical Center. The hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center, performs coronary revascularizations, open heart surgery and ECMO, and is the pediatric referral center for the Region. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, full-service ED where you will see everything from trauma cases to reductions. Your commitment to delivering the highest quality patient care is demonstrated with strong clinical, interpersonal and communication skills, along with adaptability and flexibility.
This locum opportunity, for May 2024, is now open and consists of 6-7 ED shifts/month but could accommodate more shifts if desired. Alternative contract lengths and shift schedules will be considered.
