ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) in Sydney, Cape Breton, is seeking emergency physicians to join their team in their level 2 Emergency Department. CBRH opened its door to patients in 1995. Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than 200,000 patients a year. It is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals. The successful candidate will also have opportunity to work in these surrounding communities. Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has 162 acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • all family physician must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • all applicants must have a current PALS Certification
  • all applicants must have a current ATLS Certification
  • all applicants must have a current ACLS Certification

Responsibilities:

  • provide call coverage
  • care for inpatients at CBRH
  • consult and refer to other medical practitioners’
  • act as a patient advocate
  • prescribe and administer medications, treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations
