Salary: $99,996 - $122,359 (Plus 11.5% Super)
Location: The Canberra Hospital, North Canberra Hospital
Section: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Emergency Department

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory

An Australian MBBS medical degree, or equivalent

  • Current Basic Life Support and Advance Life Support certification
  • Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful applicant will need to be available for weekend and after-hours work.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.

1. Demonstrated clinical competence at post graduate year 3 level.
2. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals including demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

Under limited direction of the Medical Director you will provide day-to-day medical care for patients of the CHS at a level commensurate with the level of clinical experience and under the supervision and direction of more senior medical staff.

You will:

  • Provide assessment and management of patients under the supervision and direction of more senior medical staff appropriate to level of clinical experience.
  • Perform Clinical duties including care of patients in the Birthing Suite, Inpatient Units, Theatre, Outpatient clinics, Early Pregnancy Unit and Maternity Assessment Unit.
  • Perform specialised procedures on the direction and under supervision of the duty specialist (ED)
  • Participate in rostered education sessions, teaching of medical student and junior doctors and prepare material for clinical presentations, audit and mortality/morbidity reviews as directed.
  • Participate in rostered duties as allocated (24/7).
  • Comply with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and policies of the CHS. This includes the promotion and application of workplace relations, workplace equity and diversity and workplace safety.
  1. Demonstrate appropriate progression toward more independent medical practice, with concomitant development of clinical knowledge, skills and behaviours required for safe medical practice.
  2. Work within and support the multidisciplinary clinical team.
  3. Maintain adequate medical records with legible entries, and complete discharge summaries on time.
  4. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
