Description:

We are looking for a qualified nurse practitioner to join our team of Emergency Surgical Nurse Practitioners. If you ever wanted to truly make a difference to patient care, this is the role and team for you.
Working in partnership with the on-call surgical team, our practitioners accept emergency surgical referrals from the community and/or advise on appropriate acute care pathways. In addition to clinically assessing new referrals, our practitioners have the autonomy to treat, refer, admit and/or discharge referrals as appropriate and within their personal competence. As senior clinicians within the directorate they are also called upon to facilitate surgical patient pathways out of hours.
Successful candidates will have (or be completing) an MSc or equivalent in autonomous practice and have acquired the requisite level of clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes to autonomously assess and initiate first line treatment for undifferentiated patients presenting to our Acute Assessment area. Applicants must hold a Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification.

Leads and influences the contemporary practice across the clinical setting
Effectively communicates complex, sensitive and contentious information.
Champions service improvement through regular audit underpinned by research methodology.
Is an educator, ensuring staff possess the required knowledge, skills and competency for safe, effective care within the clinical setting.
Has the clinical knowledge, authority and accountability to autonomously assess, diagnose, prescribe medication and initiate treatment/discharge plans for patients within the practice area.
Is accountable for quality governance within own area of practice
Ensures that care is based and planned on individual assessment for a positive patient and carer experience.
Provides support and guidance for all members of the inter-disciplinary team delivering care to patients
In conjunction with the AIR team/Registrar responds to the new needs of deteriorating ward patients as appropriate
