KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Substantial knowledge of employment law.
- Know-how and self-sufficiency to manage a case through pleadings, motion practice, discovery, dispute resolution, and trial/hearing.
- Familiarity with eDiscovery issues, including document retention policies and procedures as well as collection, review, and production of documents.
- Experience performing all facets of workplace investigations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong case evaluation abilities, business judgment, critical thinking, and organization.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in an organized, effective, and timely manner.
- Computer skills, MS Office, Google Workspace (including Vault), and online legal research tools such as Casetext.
- Ability to perform work under limited supervision.
- Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- J.D. from an accredited university.
- CA Bar license in good standing required.
- AZ State Bar license in good standing a plus.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience advising clients in a law firm or in-house law department on employment and investigative matters.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CA PAGA claims experience preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT / MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Works in an office environment sitting at a desk, table or computer workstation for extended periods of time. May travel by car, plane or other form of transportation to attend business meetings or conferences. Approximately 50-80 percent of the time spent on the job involves the use of a personal computer.

Responsibilities:
- Assists in the Company’s response to employment claims and litigation, including government agency charges, within the Company’s seven-state footprint (CA, AZ, NV, UT, AK, WY, MT).
- Drafts and reviews pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery requests/responses, and other legal documents.
- Performs document searches, reviews, and production.
- Strategizes with Senior Counsel and outside counsel on litigation approach, resolution, and settlement negotiation.
- Assists in preparation of Company witnesses for deposition or hearing appearance and attends depositions/hearings as needed.
- Educates business stakeholders on employment litigation and legislative trends.
- Develops and/or conducts training programs for supervisors, managers, and/or employees.
- Plans and conducts prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of employee relations concerns, including performing witness interviews, document review, preparing findings of fact, and making policy determinations, as assigned and directed by the Director, Investigations.
