Description:
Working Full Time: 37.5 hours per week
The post-holder will be part of the Urgent Care Endoscopy Admissions Team and will manage the day to day responsibilities of sending for waitlisted patients whilst maximising theatre session utilisation, arranging pre-admission appointments and dealing with patients who cancel or fail to attend in line with the Trust’s access policy.
To work in conjunction with the Admissions Manager to monitor and manage the waiting lists in line with the Trust policies and procedures, ensuring that reportable waiting deadlines are not breached.
Provide advice, information, and guidance to patients and relatives regarding admission arrangements, pre-op details, and general queries about waiting list management.
To book pre-assessment dates for patients and liaise with the pre-admission as required.
Participate in validation of patients on the waiting lists and on suspension to maintain data accuracy as appropriate or requested.
To deal with telephone enquires from patients, internal and external parties etc. to resolve any problems, queries, complaints and concerns in a timely, polite and sympathetic manner, passing on any unresolved problems to the Team Leader and Business Performance Assistants. This will involve dealing with at times verbally aggressive patients and/or relatives due to e.g. suspected or confirmed cancer or following a cancelled operation.

The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
