EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science, or Technical Field or equivalent experience required.
  • One to three years’ experience in a supervision or leadership role is required. A high degree of technical expertise and familiarization with the Abbott process is preferred.
  • Experience requires multi-skill abilities in utility operation and maintenance including, but not limited to HVAC, compressed air, electricity, instrumentation, boilers/steam generation, refrigeration (ammonia/chillers), water analysis, chemical treatment systems, and RO operations.
  • The incumbent must possess good verbal and written communication skills, leadership, problem solving and interpersonal relations’ skills; as well as demonstrate teamwork and strategic focus.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Supervisor of the Energy Center provides support and guidance for the Energy Center Operation with necessary Plant Engineering support for all related equipment and facilities. The position manages utility operations and provides supervision to Energy Center personnel.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, assign and direct operational and preventive functions for the Energy Center, including coordinating outages and shutdowns.
  • Coordinate utility work with contractors, plant, Division/Corporate Engineering, city municipalities and utility companies.
  • Monitor utility performance, plant demands and provide usage reports, to maximize utility utilization.
  • Supervise utilities to ensure compliance with environmental agency, and any Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Works with Manager of Plant Facilities, Plant and Division groups to develop and implement long range plans, obsolescence plans, for utility and facility improvements.
  • Financial responsibility for department budget and labor costs.
  • Support existing utility operations.
  • Maintain utilities support up to operations areas.
  • Assist Operations and Engineering in meeting production schedule commitments, minimizing unplanned operating downtime, ensuring goals are met and supporting efforts to develop new processes.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient generation and distribution of all utilities within the plant.
  • Ensure management and proper utilization of employees, coaches, develops, and mentors employees in areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts performance reviews. Develops growth plans, interprets, implements and supports employee-related policies, procedures and programs.
  • Assigns projects/tasks to direct staff.
  • Ensures compliance to all Corporate, Divisional, and Plant Industrial Safety and Hygiene policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance to Local, State and Federal regulations governing the manufacture of medical/nutritional products including GMPs.

ACCOUNTABILITY/SCOPE/BUDGET

  • This position is accountable to the Plant Engineering Manager for properly controlling financial budgets, including an annual payroll and expense budget and capital projects as assigned.
  • The Energy Center and its operation has direct impact on plant productivity and product integrity; the position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Energy Center.
  • This position is accountable for maintaining and complying with FDA , USDA , OSHA, EPA and Affirmative Action requirements.
  • Noncompliance or failure to meet the above could result in Plant shutdown directly affecting significant Abbott business.
  • This position is responsible for ensuring proper equipment/manpower utilization, good employee relations, a safe environment, quality products and profitability; ensuring all regulatory procedures are complied.
