Energy Sector Senior Associate- South Africa/Remote

The Energy Sector Senior Associate will support the growth of our South Africa–based energy practice. This will include independently conduct studies related to grid integration and stability, taking site measurements, and analyzing and preparing reports in response to client terms of reference. The associate will also independently undertake business development efforts, perform technical analyses, develop presentations, write expressions of interest, undertake desktop research and write technical reports related to clients’ energy sector needs, and manage other tasks as necessary. The position will involve occasional travel to international locations to execute technical tasks in collaboration with local project personnel, project stakeholders, and clients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering such as BSc or BEng
• Five years of relevant work experience in energy system planning, studies and modelling
• Knowledge of Python programming language
• Advanced IT literacy and numeracy skills
• Ability to return to first principles and academic literature to resolve complex technical problems.
• Adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Able to confidently build and maintain external and internal relationships.
• A systematic, logical approach to problem solving.
• Detail-oriented and careful approach to completing assignments.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and client needs.
• Highly motivated to learn on the job, interface with clients, and undertake training.
• Willingness to travel internationally on occasion.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Strong research capabilities, using a variety of primary and secondary source.

VALUED QUALIFICATIONS

• Postgraduate degree such as MSc, MEng, or PhD
• Energy sector experience in a technical role
• Commercial awareness
• Proficiency in French
