Description:

Bilton Welding and Manufacturing Ltd., in Innisfail, Alberta is seeking an innovative, analytical, and detail-oriented Pressure Vessel Engineer. Innovation is our heartbeat, come join us in driving our diverse product line forward!

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with years of experience in design and fabrication on large-scale projects within the oil, gas, and/or petrochemical industries.
  • Experience with Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers, with an interest in assisting in their design.
  • Familiarity with related industrial codes including ABSA, ASME: B31.1, B31.3, I, IV, VIII Div. 1, and Div. 2.
  • Proficiency in vessel and tank design.
  • Familiarity with other related technologies, including metallurgy and welding techniques.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for vessel designs and modifications.
  • Generate reports on design calculations, testing results, and project progress for internal review and client communication.
  • Experience with PVELite and NozzlePRO is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed reviews of mechanical specifications and design drawings for vessels, pumps, and equipment.
  • Design specifications for tanks and associated structures.
  • Collaborate closely with Project and Sales Managers to develop design basis and cost estimates efficiently.
  • Liaise with clients and review client data sheets and specifications for requested projects.
  • Monitor new quotes and communicate completion of quotes to sales and purchasing departments.
  • Ensure vendor documentation is reviewed, approved, and commented on by other engineering disciplines.
  • Act as a liaison with ABSA to ensure manufacturing compliance with industry guidelines and codes.
  • Utilize engineering principles and software tools to design pressure vessels, storage tanks, and heat exchangers according to project requirements and industry standards (ASME, API, CSA etc.).
  • Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, durability, and performance.
  • Evaluate material properties and compatibility for vessel construction, considering factors such as corrosion resistance, pressure containment, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality materials and components from approved suppliers.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for vessel designs and modifications.
  • Generate reports on design calculations, testing results, and project progress for internal review and client communication.
