FREYR Battery is on a mission to decarbonize energy and transportation systems globally by producing the world’s most sustainable battery cells. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, FREYR’s mission is to produce green battery cells to accelerate the decarbonization of energy and transportation systems globally.
FREYR has built the commercially-sized Customer Qualification Plant in Mo i Rana, Norway and announced development of industrial scale battery cell production in the United States.
We are looking for an Engineer - Cell Testing to develop and maintain a capable test center for R&D purposes, fully aligned with the data management architectures in FREYR.
You will be working with scaling up breakthrough semi-solid technology creating highly sustainable batteries. We are looking for exceedingly motivated professionals to join our mission, and to help us build a centre of excellence for battery cell manufacturing.
This position is located at our Customer Qualification Plant in Mo i Rana, Norway, where we validate and improve technology, materials, and cell designs as we prepare for commercial production.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline; candidates that have a Master’s Degree in data sciences, statistics, or industrial mathematics may also be considered
  • Hands-on experience from working with lithium-ion batteries; cell- or module-testing and analysis (lab-scale or industrial-scale)
  • Being familiar with ISO, UL and IEC standards for battery-testing
  • Excellent understanding of battery materials and mechanical structures of battery cells
  • Fluent in English both, oral and written

THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS ARE ADVANTAGEOUS, BUT NOT A REQUIREMENT:

  • Experience in lithium-ion battery development and/or manufacturing in an industrial context
  • Programming skills (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Being familiar with the concepts of lean manufacturing
  • Experience from working in an international company

Responsibilities:

YOUR MAIN TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Developing, planning, and executing electrochemical cell testing
  • Collaborating closely with other teams, e.g. Cell-Design and Production, and providing insight into test results and proposing change
  • Working with third party test houses for external testing
  • Developing and implementing full fledged reporting and data management structures
  • Developing and managing solid scalable planning and process control tools
  • Executing Failure Root Cause Analysis, product improvement, and verification processes
