Description:

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

  • Work with an exceptional team of electrical, mechanical, civil, and mining engineers as well as operations and maintenance people.
  • Fly-in/fly-out full-time role based at the Diavik Diamond Mine, Lac de Gras Mine, NT.

FINDING BETTER WAYS TO PROVIDE THE MATERIALS THE WORLD NEEDS.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to carry out electrical engineering duties as required by the Projects and Closure teams.
Reporting to the Senior Advisor Closure Readiness, this position is located at the Lac de Gras Mine site. You will be working 12 hours per day on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule.

Working collaboratively with all operational and functional departments, you will be required to:

  • Create engineered electrical designs and drawings covering power distribution and protection, control systems, and instrumentation for all areas of the mine.
  • Develop detailed plans for decommissioning and closure of buildings in preparation for demolition.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings.
  • Write technical reports, feasibility studies, and project handover documentation.
  • Update single line drawings and the site-wide power system model.
  • Perform load flow and arc flash simulations using SKM PowerTools.
  • Monitor energy usage and design and implement energy saving projects.
  • Optimize Diavik’s hybrid diesel/wind/solar electrical system.
  • Work closely with mechanical, civil, and mining engineers within the team to complete projects.
  • Identify and implement safety improvements and take part in investigations.
  • Support the operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other departments.
  • Support the closure team on all electrical-related topics.
