Description:

We are hiring for an Engineer, based out of our Vancouver office. This role is perfect for an Engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience structural engineering that is looking to grow and develop their career in a top tier, dynamic firm. Salary: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per yea

Responsibilities:

GENERAL FUNCTION OF ROLE:

  • Multitasking between projects and project tasks
  • Manage time, allocating time for different tasks
  • Communicate clearly with team members and organize own work
  • Perform tasks according to project process and order
  • Compose letters, memos, and reports with supervision
  • Analyze statics and dynamics of building behaviour
  • Create and analyze structural models for design
  • Review software results with hand analysis
  • Work independently on basic design tasks
  • Respond to team leader direction and follow priorities
  • Communicate with internal project teams
  • Incorporate basic engineering concepts in design
  • Work for local clients to deliver project requirements per client standards.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with engineers and designers in our department to support project requirements.
  • Strong problem solving ability, attention to detail and ability to learn on the job is a must for the candidate.
  • Candidate must be able to follow project schedule and prioritize work as needed to reach project end goal in a timely manner. Candidate must be able to learn on own as well as learn via department mentoring.

DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES:

  • Implement creativity and innovation in project design and detailing
  • Implement constraints from building codes or local authorities
  • Analyze structural systems and understand overall structural behaviour
  • Distribute loads and perform analysis with both hand and computer methods
  • Design gravity and lateral load systems using building and material code manuals and other design aids as applicable
  • Review serviceability of structure to ensure acceptable deflection and vibration performance
  • Correspond with design team members as required
  • Perform design calculations and file project documentation under direction of Project Manager
  • Monitor time allocated for design tasks and advise of status
  • Correspond with Project team members in time scales required
