Description:

This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION)

The engineer provides technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of additions, changes or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company’s generating units. Assignments to the engineer I are based on the skills and expected knowledge of the selected candidate.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of projects, additions or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company’s generation system. (40%)
Provide technical project management for certain phases of a project, including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (25%)
Assist with engineering studies and investigations and assist with preparing oral and written reports. (15%)
Provide engineering assistance to other departments. (10%)
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (5%)
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution required for Engineer I level.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution and 1+ years of experience required for Engineer II level.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution and 5+ years of experience required for Senior Engineer level.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution and 15+ years of experience required for Principal Engineer level.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Basic project management skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
