Motivated engineers with strong technical and project management skills are required to support a variety of multi-discipline projects in the Electric Boat D472 Project Office. Daily tasks include coordinating the overhaul of complex mechanical components, maintaining associated budgets and schedules, and responding to Liaison requests from Navy shipyards. Engineers will work on various types of components used across all classes of nuclear submarines as well as nuclear training platforms, and will be responsible for leading high visibility projects involving various departments throughout the company.
The Electric Boat D472 Project Office forms part of the Reactor Plant Planning Yard (RPPY), Moored Training Ship Support Yard (MTSSY), and S8G Prototype Design Agent. This organization provides engineering, design, and logistics support and maintains technical expertise for nuclear and non-nuclear propulsion plant systems and equipment. This position will allow the engineer to interface directly with various internal and external organizations.
The D472 Project Office is the primary engineering activity responsible for projects such as:
- Overhauling and testing mechanical components used on multiple nuclear submarine training platforms through coordination with component vendors and the Electric Boat Shipyard
- Coordinating multi-discipline engineering projects
- Developing and implementing critical component and rotatable pool programs for S5W and S6G Moored Training Ships (MTS) as well as the S8G Prototype
- Managing components stored at the Electric Boat Quonset Point facility by maintaining inventory and prioritizing refurbishments
Engineers will frequently interface with external organizations such as NAVSEA 08, Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), Navy Shipyards, and component vendors.
