Description:

EDUCATION:

Typically requires a university degree, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 or more years of professional experience in Field Service Engineering in Electron Microscopy or similar field is preferred
  • Candidates with no experience in a Field Service Engineering with exposure to Electron Microscopy are encouraged to apply
  • Experience in ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Able to read and interpret schematics and troubleshoot electrical/electronic systems
  • Able to work with and repair mechanical systems
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve PC and software issues
  • Able to balance multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Able to set priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively within a small team
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Able to deal effectively with customers at all levels

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to travel domestically and internationally often at short notice
  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • A current driver’s licence

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The successful candidate will install, maintain and repair Thermo Fisher’s range of Electron Microscopes, Focused Ion Beam and Surface Analysis systems while driving customer allegiance through a high-quality customer service experience

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES INCLUDE:

  • Install, commission, maintain and repair our range of industry leading products
  • Provide training for customers and users on system operation and maintenance
  • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, users and company personnel
  • Serve as the company liaison on technical matters for assigned systems and projects
  • Complete and submit field service reports
  • Provide feedback to product quality teams
  • Provide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting documentation
  • Act as a subject expert and resource for training
