Engineer III, Embedded (Electrical with focus on Software)
Franklin, MA / Chemical Analysis Division

EDUCATION

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering, or in a related field with a focus on instrumentation and embedded systems is required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Three years of related research and development experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or one year of experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Experience with embedded processors or commercially available micro control units, such as Arduino.
  • Experience using computer-based data acquisition and test systems, such National Instruments DAQ modules, for data collection and hardware control.
  • Experience using Python and/or high-level programming tools such as LabView, Mathematica, or MATLAB for automated data collection and analysis.
  • Hands on experience using test equipment, like oscilloscopes and function generators.
  • Experience working with C++ would be beneficial.
  • Classroom training or experience in analytical chemistry, chemometrics or statistics will be helpful, but is not required.
  • A positive demeanor, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to design and test instrumentation used in detection and measurement of air pollution and for analysis of process gases.
  • Work with a variety of measurement platforms based on optical spectroscopy, chemiluminescence, fluorescence, mass spectrometry and other technologies.
  • Contribute to design of electrical and software system architecture.
  • Collect and analyze laboratory test data, refine product designs, and participate in field evaluations of our new products.
