EDUCATION
- 1st/ 2:1 Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
EXPERIENCE
- 1-5 years’ experience in Industry or recently graduated with an Industrial Year
- Experience of working on a COMAH site or in an ATEX environment is helpful
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Demonstrates a self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally and through presentations
- Skills to analyse complex issues to determine underlying root cause
- Proficiency in regulatory requirements with capability to develop in depth knowledge of Safety Regulations
- Understanding of chemical engineering concepts and general chemical principles
- Familiar with HAZOP, PHR, pFMEA techniques
- Able to create P&ID Flow diagrams
- Must be willing to work in a hands-on capacity
- Strong drive to develop your career and progress within the business
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This role is based on-site in Loughborough, UK.
Responsibilities:
- As part of the Operations Team, you will work closely with Production Staff to observe and understand Plant operation and processes
- Review and update Chemical Manufacturing Batch instructions and SOPs, with a focus on Process Safety and provide training to Production Staff
- Act as HAZOP Lead, organizing and contributing to HAZOPs for new and existing equipment and processes
- Work in collaboration with multiple Departments to introduce new processes and products
- Act as liaison between Operations and the external Design house, reviewing basic and detailed design of the new Plant
- Perform root cause analysis and implement cost effective solutions
- Design and procure equipment and supervise its installation
- Drive Continuous Improvement within the Chemical Plants to enhance safety, productivity, product quality and customer satisfaction
- Develop specialist knowledge in key areas such as fractional distillation
- Carry out inspections and audits
