Job Description

MISSION

CIMA+ is currently seeking applications for the position of Engineer to join our Transportation Design Team in any of the following Ontario offices: Mississauga-Toronto, Burlington, Kitchener, London, Bowmanville, or Ottawa. Reporting to Project Manager and Senior Staff, the Engineer will be responsible for aiding in the development of multidisciplinary municipal functional, preliminary, and detailed design plans, in support of a wide variety of transportation planning and design projects across Ontario.
The primary focus of this position will be to complete specific tasks, oversee work by technical staff and support project managers in the delivery of infrastructure planning and detailed design transportation projects for roadways, intersections and active transportation facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario with minimum 7 years’ experience in a consulting or municipal engineering environment.
  • Experience in planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction administration associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of region/municipal and local roads, bike trails, cycle tracks, and active transportation facilities.
  • Well-developed written communication skills with the ability to integrate illustrations and diagrams into written materials to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Have a track record of gaining approvals from roads authorities and environmental agencies.
  • Experience supervising technical staff in the completion of project tasks.
  • Experience managing project schedules and budgets.
  • Strong computer software skills including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Word, Excel and MS Project. Additional software experience with MicroStation, and InRoads/OpenRoads would be an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and complete assigned work in a fast-paced environment under tight timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits to assist in field data collection and subsequently organize field data to support project objectives.
  • Complete desktop data analysis to support strategic-level planning projects such as feasibility studies and preliminary design studies.
  • Assist in the integration of multi-disciplinary input into the design process from specialists in areas such as traffic engineering, transportation safety, structural engineering, stormwater management, water/wastewater process, geotechnical engineering and environment/ecology.
  • Take the lead in preparing design/technical reports, preliminary and detailed designs for CAD Staff, construction cost estimates, construction contract specifications, and oversee the construction administration associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of arterial roads, collector roads, local roads, and bike trails.
  • Coordinate with utility stakeholders and regulatory agencies and prepare materials for inclusion in permit application packages to secure approvals.
  • Mentor junior staff working within the group.
  • Assist with the preparation of Proposals and Quotations for future projects
  • Other duties as assigned
