JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

Supports the production process with the best practice process measurements, monitoring to optimise process operation and control in order to achieve smooth running of the plant and producing good quality clinker at the desired cost/tone.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Engineering or Metallurgical or equivalent
• Intimate practical experience of cement manufacturing (Plant and process) (approximately 5 years) and people leadership skills.

• Production review - Participate in inter-departmental INVOCOMs as required.
• Process Optimisation - Consult and work according to Group Production Checklist. Conduct process fault finding on production and quality deviations through relevant audit procedures. Conduct process trials during new product development or process capacity and energy efficiency optimisation. Achieve plant performance of major assets: Mills, and Kilns. Report on technical findings and trials. Close and hand-over technical initiatives to production.
• Equipment condition monitoring- Ensure plant maintains design capacity at minimum operating cost.
• Stock management - Extend life of production consumables, such as refractory liners.
• Quality Management- Achieve blending factor and consistent quality.
• Governance - Implement protocols as per departmental Joint Audit Protocol. Ensure adherence to PPC Operating Best Practices. Ensure compliance with factory statutory licenses and permits
• Risk Management - Minimise operational risk to production personnel through technical initiatives (e.g.: dust).
• Provide input in budget planning process and monitor expenses - Provide input into budget planning process where required. Monitor and allocate expenses. Motivate team to minimise waste. Assess team expenditure and resolve gaps. Support identification, implementation and development of cost-effective processes.
• Internal customer support- Provide input into scoping of engineering project relating to production in terms of equipment specification. Provide support to internal stakeholders, such as QA, Production and Engineering on request.
• External contractor liaison - Liaise with external contractors as required.
• Competency management - Identify areas for self-development.
• Performance Management - Contribute to teams to sustainable and high-performance levels through mentoring and coaching.
• Employee Relations - Create a positive working environment.
