The Environment & Climate Change Unit prepares and plans for complex environmental, sustainability and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and environment of the Northern Beaches.
The Stormwater & Floodplain Engineering Group within Environment & Climate Change Unit provides both strategic and operational management for the Council’s stormwater assets and floodplain management. This team is tasked with identifying and effectively managing flood risks throughout the local government area. Additionally, the team is responsible for ensuring the high-performance delivery of stormwater asset services. These services include construction, operation, maintenance, and sustainable renewal, all aimed at meeting community needs while minimising environmental impact. You will be working within the Stormwater Operations & Planning service of the team.

The key focus areas of this role include:
- Prioritise and respond to customer requests, applying excellent communication skills to gather relevant information, assess stormwater issues, and provide appropriate stormwater management solutions.
- Play an integral role in the development of the 10-year Stormwater Forward Works programs and the Stormwater Asset Management Plan including prioritising, scoping and proposing projects, reviewing feasibilities, stakeholder consultation and budget management.
- Lead the development, implementation and review of Council’s standards, guidelines and policies for stormwater management. Provide timely and reliable technical advice to internal and external stakeholders and review stormwater designs, plans, and models ensuring compliance with relevant policies, regulations and industry standards
