Description:

Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) is a global semiconductor leader that bridges the physical and digital worlds to enable breakthroughs at the Intelligent Edge. ADI combines analog, digital, and software technologies into solutions that help drive advancements in digitized factories, mobility, and digital healthcare, combat climate change, and reliably connect humans and the world. With revenue of more than $12 billion in FY22 and approximately 25,000 people globally working alongside 125,000 global customers, ADI ensures today’s innovators stay Ahead of What’s Possible.
The Battery Management Systems group in the Automotive, Energy and Sustainability Business Unit have an exciting opportunity for an Algorithm Engineer on the research and development of battery state estimation and lifetime prediction algorithms for batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage.
The Battery Management Systems group is focused on the development of state-of-the-art software and hardware solutions for battery management in electric vehicles and energy storage. Many of the worlds lead vehicle OEMs use ADI battery management technology.
If you have an algorithm research background, have experience or interest in electrification and want to join a team working on cutting edge technology then this is the opportunity for you.
You will be joining a team of System Engineers and Technologists with a wide variety of domain expertise like wireless communication, cybersecurity, data algorithms and battery electrochemistry so you will have a great opportunity to learn and grow. The role will form a key position in building out ADI’s capability in the research and development of battery algorithms for lithium and non-lithium battery chemistries for electric vehicle and stationary energy storage applications. The role will include working on funded research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, simulate and verify battery state algorithms (SoX) for lithium and non-lithium battery cells based on voltage, temperature and electrochemical impedance. The SoX estimation include state-of charge, state-of-health and state-of-power.
  • Investigate the optimum partitioning of algorithms between constrained edge microcontrollers, battery controller and cloud.
  • Support the Hardware, Software and System Verification teams on algorithm implementation, integration, test and verification
  • Support the Battery Characterisation Engineers on measurement, data gathering and data analysis.
  • Communicate algorithm design and performance results to customers and stakeholders via presentations and white papers
  • Plan and conduct design reviews with the project team
  • Primary measures of success in this role will be on IP creation and the successful transition of algorithm research into ADI products.

Experience

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics or similar fields
  • Good data analysis skills and scripting skills, in Python or similar, to process and analyse large volumes of data.
  • Preferably have at least 1 year Postdoc research or Industry experience
  • Good knowledge of statistical signal processing, state estimation algorithms, machine learning
  • Firm background of mathematics, physics and dynamic systems
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills to work effectively with teams spread geographically and support automotive customers
  • Nice to have:
  • Knowledge or experience in state estimation algorithms for Lithium-ion batteries
  • Embedded SW experience in C/C++
  • Interest in electric mobility or sustainable energy

For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. As such, applicants for this position – except US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) – may have to go through an export licensing review process.
