Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controls Software Test Engineer will ensure that, through comprehensive testing, high quality software is developed and delivered. Will be responsible for creating software test design, test setup, scripting and execution. Should have ability to understand software requirements, create test cases, associate test data, execute tests, analyze test results, communicate findings to stakeholders, track and coordinate defect resolution.

- Familiarity with different software development and test process
- Understanding of software security
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks.
- Adhere to high quality standards and attention to details.
- Ability to collaborate with teams in multiple regions and locations, work to gain consensus on cross product issues.
- Ability to meet short and long-term deadlines.
- Demonstrate ability to perform mental tasks such as making decisions, learning, thinking rationally and exercising good judgment
EXPERIENCE:
- Working software test experience with HVAC or thermostat or other controls products is strongly preferred.
- 5+ working experience with leading manual and automated tests for cloud, embedded and mobile (iOS, Android) software
- Minimum of 5 years of experience testing in web, mobile or embedded software
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with software automation test development
- Experience in using following programming language is highly desired: C#, C/C++, JS, Python.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or computer science or related field is a must.
- MS in these fields is preferred

Responsibilities:
- Analyze and understand software requirements to generate a clear software test plan and test schedule.
- Design and implement automatic test scripts and manual test procedures that conform to product requirements and defined functionality specifications, design documents, and external application standards.
- Hold test readiness review to ensure business understands test schedule, coverage and risks.
- Generate Electrical diagrams for test setups. Electrical wiring of test setups.
- Concisely and accurately report any defects, technical details & status and document each bug, fixes and different phase of software test.
- Generate test reports, status, and coverages and present to management team and program technical reviews.
- Work with the software engineers for the software issue debugging when necessary.
- Provide schedule and cost estimates and technical approach for software test projects.
- Perform other tasks as assigned
