QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Post secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering degree or relatable field
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive hub bearings design
  • 3+ years of working with overseas manufacturers
  • Proven experience working with AutoCAD Inventor
  • Proven experience with APQP
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
  • Previous experience with Product Life Management Software would be an asset

Responsibilities:

Directly reporting into the Engineering Manager, Design and Innovation, the Engineer I is accountable for the completed detail and conceptual drawings while supporting the Engineering team by establishing test and design standards. In this role, the Engineer I will also make recommendations and lend their experience to the Engineering team, identifying key improvements, as well as failure modes of parts.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInnovation & Technology

  • Lead R&D Projects Focused on new technologies and concepts for wheel hub bearings
  • Perform competitor benchmarking

Product Management

  • Assist with manufacturer onboarding and quality management
  • Perform NPI to expand product lines
  • Write and maintain technical documentation including customer assembly drawings, manufacturing details and new product specifications
  • Maintain manufacturing drawing/print database including creating, filing, obsoleting, retrieving and tracking changes
  • Work with peers on validating completed specification & conceptual drawings before submitted to contract manufacturers.
  • Resolve supplier concerns

Product Quality

  • Perform root cause analysis on product quality issues
  • Create and implement action plan, lessons learned
  • Re-evaluate products and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Review and compile testing data to quantify improvements that have been made to various designs.

Standards

  • Create, improve and maintain design standards used for product lines
  • Organize and standardize documents used for internal and external communication

Training Team Development

  • On-boarding and training new team members
  • Guide and develop intern’s technical abilities
  • Review identified errors and guide team
  • Document and upgrade current engineering specifications and standards
  • Contribute to Mevotech engineering standards and process improvement iniatitives
  • Collaborate with peers on research projects providing guidance and support
