The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a 3rd-4th year Structural Engineering student to join our Buildings – Structures Team, located in our Vancouver, BC office, for a 4 month term. As a member of our vibrant and enthusiastic Structures team, you will gain valuable exposure to accomplished engineers and assist with the delivery of services related to interesting and challenging structural engineering projects.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Be an active member of project teams working on the structural design of new and existing buildings, as well as provide advisory services to clients. This includes providing technical support, performing calculations, conducting site inspections, interacting with clients and other professionals, and contributing to design reporting.
  • Prepare project deliverables, including basic calculations, specifications, field review reports, and technical reports.
  • Perform field reviews to review construction details and compliance with the design.
  • Liaise with other teams in the WSP such as Electrical, Mechanical, Sustainability, Project Management services and Building Sciences.
  • Conduct research regarding new construction technologies and materials, as well as progress the field of computational design.
  • Assist the team in developing various reports and project correspondence.
  • Help develop and/or improve internal processes.Other duties as assigned/required.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Entering the third or final year of a Civil Engineering degree, with a minimum B average.
  • General knowledge of structural engineering and the construction industry.
  • Previous CO-OP or summer work experience in the engineering or construction industry.
  • Passionate to learn and gain experience in this dynamic industry. Pro-active, solutions-driven mentality, who questions and positively disrupts the norms.
  • Proven ability of adapting to changing priorities.
  • Strong time management and planning skills.Succinct communicator in daily interactions and in written correspondence.

  • Compensation
    Expected Salary (all locations): $20.50/hr - $31.25/hr
    WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to the specific geographic location.
